Why a search by city sometimes finds nothing

Our directory has 66 categories. But in no city of Kazakhstan are all of them filled in: Almaty has 54, Taldykorgan 15. An empty result more often says how a listing is labeled in the directory than that the specialist does not exist in the city

How many categories are filled in by city?

A category counts as filled in if the city has at least five places with such a label

The number of records and the number of filled categories are not tightly linked. Kostanay has more records than Aktobe, but fewer filled categories

Which categories are labeled least often?

This table cannot be read as "Kazakhstan has one sleep specialist." That is how the listings are labeled, and a sleep specialist usually sees patients inside a clinic, and the clinic is labeled as a clinic. The same goes for the pulmonologist, hematologist, and infectious disease specialist: narrow appointments almost always go under the sign of a medical center

Pools and veterinary drop out for a different reason: they sit in sections of the directory outside our catalog, and we take beauty and health

What is labeled most densely?

What is labeled densely is what exists as a separate business. A hair salon is a sign. A rheumatologist is an office inside something bigger

What should I do when the results are empty?

1. Search by the name of the business. A query for "rheumatologist" in a small city often returns nothing, while "medical center" returns dozens of listings, and appointments are held there
2. Call a large multi-specialty center and ask about appointments. The full list of doctors is rarely put in the listing
3. If your city has no such category at all, look at the regional center. The gap between a regional center and a small city is clearly visible in our table
4. Check the spelling. The same thing is labeled differently in directories: "medical check" and "preventive exam," "ENT" and "otolaryngologist"

What this means for an owner

If you see a narrow specialist but are labeled only as a "medical center," a search for the specialty will not find you. The list of services in the listing is what people search by. It is filled in for 96% of businesses, more often than any other field in our table

The open 2GIS directory, August 2026. Active businesses in the categories of our directory, with other industries filtered out. The city table includes those with at least three hundred records: there are twenty of them. One business can fall into several categories at once, so "records" is larger than the number of businesses
